Being Bastille Day the lock keepers are on holiday with the rest of the nation.
The Locaboat host was not right about celebrations in this town. There's not even the smallest festival today. The town is very quiet. At least the weather is settled so we enjoy a few bike rides and walk into the village as well. Millie goes to explore a nearby chateau with grandad. Clare has to come back early due to puncture problems... The superglue/ductape solution did not last the whole trip!
Our neighbours are pretty hard case. Some ex-navy guy who hires a large boat and invites friends over from the UK for a week at a time. He does work with the Duke of York. We have a few laughs.
Our other neighbours are the French folk who come by and fish in the grubby water for hours and hours at a time, seemingly catching only the very tiniest of fish. They just sit on their eski-chair and eat and or smoke away the day.
Frankie again goes searching for bugs and finds a pretty cool stag beetle. She is loving all small creatures at the moment.
All in all not an unpleasant day. Viva la France!
