July 5: Happy Birthday Millie

This memorable day begins in Souillac. Right by the Dordogne river we enjoy a cooler morning. Crepes for breakfast and a smattering of gifts start the day. We get to Skype Nana Robin and also talk with the Tischs. Lots of fun.
After a pancake breakfast and swim in the camp ground pool we decide to head off. For a special day we have lunch in a cafe in the village. It's a lovely setting and the waitress is really friendly giving Millie a small gift and card... explaining that in France seven is a special birthday as the child is said to have entered the 'age of reason'.
We poke around the village a little then drive off late in the day. Millie is keen on a lake setting for dinner so we head for a National park area north of Tulle. We drive past the upper Vezere River where it has been dammed in several places creating pretty lakes. It takes a while for us to come across the perfect place. It is a free aire in the village of Lascelle in the Millevache area and we have it to ourselves. Clean toilets with paper, a clean grassy area and near a quaint village and pretty small lake. We BBQ dinner and even come up with a cake to cut. Millie gets the outdoor birthday she wanted.
It's been a memorable birthday and we now have a seven year old on our hands!
