June 5: York II

We spend the morning sorting ourselves a little for the trip to the continent in a few days, making decisions about where and when to cross from. In ten days we meet Kay and Malcolm - nana and grandad. It's so good to have some uninterrupted time to get a few things done.
First stop this morning is to visit good friends of Alice, David and Elaine. Grandson Felix is with them for the day. It is lovely to meet tnem and see the lovely Baxby Manor. Parts of the huojse were built in 1308. We really enjoy this chance to meet them and see their home and projects.. Like the 1929 caravan.
We head off from here and stop off at the super cute village of Hustlethwaite. This is another of Alice's recommendations. Tee Hee is great, just like you told us Alice! Once again we are very aware of just how little time we have to really explore each place. We have to leave the dales and moors of Yorkshire for another visit.
Instead we are back to York central where we have the pleasure of meeting more of Alice's friends, Lewis and Louisa Creed. These lovely people put on a great afternoon tea for us and tell us a little of their lives in York. Their apartment with a view over the river is stunning. Their rag rugs are amazing. Our visit is again too short but we run back to town to buy a couple of things before driving back to Bollington. Farewell York.
