We rate the park and ride facilities just outside Mussleburgh. We sort ourselves then catch the bus into town. It happens to follow the marathon route pretty closely and runs right alongside the Fisherow area where some or our family used to live.
We start our walk outside the art Museum overlooking Princess Gardens. It's a treat to see some great artwork and the girls enjoy tagging along with a school group for a part of it. When we come back outside we are just in time to look out on the 21gun salute from the castle. It's to celebrate the date of the Queens coronation, 1952? From here we walk up the hill and visit Greyfriars Bobby before grabbing a spot of lunch and taking a fleeting look at the Museum on our way to the city lookout on the top terrace.
We have enough time to walk up to the main castle and back down the Royal Mile before catching our bus back to the park and ride. The girls are pleased that rather than driving to York we made the choice to drive to Bollington where their cousins await. We've had a wonderful time in Scotland but it's great to be back in Bolly.
