We take a tour of the Passion Play theatre this morning. It's quite an amazing story. After twenty percent of the towns residents were killed in a plague around 1633, the locals made a promise to put on a play remembering the Jesus story every year. Legend has it that no further villagers died of the plague and every ten years the play has been preformed by villagers since that time. Only locals from the town can participate and now about 2,500 villagers are involved with each season... half of the local residents.
Each season runs from May to October and every day 4,500 people fill the theatre to watch the six hour play. Definately still on our wish list some day!
We head home for yummy spinach spekle and cook a kiwi fish pie for dinner after a cruisy afternoon.
