Today the kids go with Stefanie, Andreas and friends for a walk up one of the local mountains. The luge ride down is a blast. Clare stays home to combat another sore throat. It seems the bugs are terrified of the raw garlic on brown toast which seems to have a rapid effect.
In the evening the town is caught up in special celebrations to commemorate King Ludwig's birthday. Locals have walked up many of the local mountains and as the dark sets in they set alight a crown, the king's initials, and crosses. They let off fireworks and play traditijonal music which wafts down into the village.
We walk into a local meadow to watch then hear the men walk back through to town with their music makers in tow. They stop to continue celetrations into the night at the resaurant two doors away.
