April 18: Good Good Friday

That's what Millie thinks about this 18th April. Not only is it a time to remember and celebrate what Good Friday represents but it is day one of our once in a lifetime adventure... A day that we get to have twice as we cross international time zones on the way to Los Angeles, California.

In spite of what seems a particularly frenetic few months in preparation for our trip, the last day is again full as we repack bags and sort our gear to stow while we are away. Have to rate the handheld digi scales as we work to optimise our packing! Millie and Francine enjoyed the last day spent with nana, grandad and cousin Lydia and we were all delighted to catch up with friends who chose to come to the airport to send us off.

We are thankful that we were checked through to LA as our domestic flight to Auckland was delayed due to follow on effects of a stormy NZ day. As a result the plane to LA waited as we made our way between terminals and we were the very last passengers to board.

We transferred from a Hobbit adorned Air New Zealand plane to a Lightening McQueen decorated transfer coach... Carsland Disney beckons!

Hotel Cortona is not really a cracker but it is handy to Disneyland and any clean sheets on a bed with our names on them look good right now. Dinner of tacos and burritos finished off a great first day of travel. Thank you and good night.
